Int’l visitors to HCM City up 8% in January
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 412,000 international visitors in the first month of 2015, a year-on-year increase of 8%, according to a report from the municipal People’s Committee.
The city earned VND7,794 billion in tourism revenue in the month, up 7%.
In 2014, as many as 4.4 million international tourists arrived in the city, accounting for 53% of the total number visitors to Viet Nam.
The total tourism revenue including travelling, hotels and restaurants is estimated to reach VND86,000 billion, accounting for 34%.
In 2015, the city aims to accelerate tourism promotion programs, tourism development cooperation programs with other localities and nations in the region as well as enhancing the quality of periodical cultural and tourist events.
The city strives to gain VND98,280 billion for the tourism sector and receive around 4.7 million foreign visitors and 19.3 million domestic tourists this year.
